Where to get it?

Ochre Restaurant Seafood Selection

Promoting Queensland Seafood was the theme of QSIA exhibit at this year’s Ekka at the RNA Showgrounds in Brisbane. For 10 days in front of more than half a million visitors from the 7th to the 16th August one common question was asked – ‘where can I get Queensland seafood’?

Market research tells us that more than 2 million Queenslanders eat seafood at least once or twice a week and that when asked, 92% of Queenslanders said they want to see country of origin labelling on seafood. People want choice and to be able to select fresh local Queensland seafood.

In the Cairns region, we surveyed restaurants and retailers to find out the percentage of Local, Queensland, Australian and Imported Seafood they sell or serve.

Retailers must label their seafood with the country of origin and those listed here are where you can find quality local Queensland Catch.

Restaurants do not have to label their menu’s with country of origin and it is important if you want a Tropical North Queensland Seafood Experience

Look for the Queensland Catch logo and you can be assured that you will get Local Seafood

If you see incorrectly labelled seafood we urge you report it to the Australian Seafood Consumers
Hotline on 1800 737 147
or Seafood Services Australia. This gives us all the opportunity to choose local seafood.
