QUEENSLAND SEAFOOD INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION

The QSIA is the peak body representing the Queensland Seafood Industry. Our members include professional fishers, seafood processors, marketers and retailers and other businesses associated with the seafood industry. Our representation to members and the community at large is to promote the consumption of delicious local Queensland Seafood.

SEAFOOD SERVICES AUSTRALIA

The goal of Seafood Services Australia (SSA) is to enhance the profitability, international competitiveness, sustainability and resilience of the Australian seafood industry.
SSA was established in 2001 by the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation and the Australian seafood industry.

QUEENSLAND STATE DEPARTMENT OF PRIMARY INDUSTRY AND FISHERIES

The Department protects and conserves fisheries resources while maintaining profitable commercial and enjoyable recreational fishing sectors. The Department is also the lead agency in developing the policy framework for the management of Queensland’s fisheries resources and the development of a profitable fisheries industry.

FISHERIES RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

The FRDC has become widely recognised as the leading Australian agency concerned with planning, funding and managing fisheries research and development.
Stakeholders in the FRDC are the fishing industry; the governments of the Commonwealth, the states and the territories; and the people of Australia.

SEAFOOD EXPERIENCE AUSTRALIA
Seafood Experience Australia (SEA) was launched in December 2005, with the aim of becoming the first industry-owned corporation formed to specifically promote Australian seafood to consumers both in Australia and overseas.

FISH NAMES
The Australian Fish Names Committee is established under Seafood Services Australia, an accredited Standards Development Organisation. The committee assigns of standard fish names in accordance with transparent and rigorous procedures. Search online Standard Fish Names Database includes all species listed in the Standard.

AUSTRALIAN SEAFOOD CONSUMER HOTLINE

The Australian Seafood Consumer Hotline online submission page, which is sponsored by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
If you suspect that seafood is wrongly labelled, using an incorrect fish name or not displaying country of origin, please report the incident on-line or by phoning the Hotline directly on freecall 1800 737 147.

FOOD STANDARDS AUSTRALIA

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is an independent statutory agency established by the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991. Working within an integrated food regulatory system involving the governments of Australia and the New Zealand Government, we set food standards for the two countries. FSANZ is part of the Australian Government’s Health and Ageing portfolio.
